Located just 140 miles via scenic,
paved highway from Anchorage, Soldotna is the central hub of the Kenai
Peninsula and the Kenai River. Soldotna borders the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and
other nearby state park lands that are rich in wildlife, home to
moose, caribou, brown and black bear, wolves, Dall sheep, mountain
goats, eagles, swans, ducks, geese, birds, fish, and numerous others.
Moose often wander right into town, and bald eagles are commonly seen.
Fishing opportunities include not only the Kenai River for King,
Sockeye, and Silver Salmon throughout the summer season, but also easy
access to nearby Cook Inlet for Halibut and numerous lakes and streams
for Trout, Dolly Varden, and other species. Sightseeing and hiking are
available within and around Soldotna. Lands open for snow machining
and cross-country skiing trails are readily accessible.

have more river city parks within the City's boundary than anywhere
else in Alaska. With over 2,800 feet of elevated boardwalk and over
200 campsites, you will understand why Soldotna is a favorite
playground for Alaskans.
Local hotels and bed and breakfast establishments offer excellent
accommodations, along with various restaurants with large assortments
of cuisine.

Soldotna has lots of restaurants, fast food, and the best bakery at
"The Moose Is Loose". There is a
huge Fred Meyer store (everything you need), Safeway etc. State parks are
between Soldotna and Deep Creek offer clam digging, lake for camping,
rivers. Nature lovers will enjoy Alaska's wild
flowers such as Fire weed along the highway for taking pictures.
